Quick fixes.
The six things people write to us about most.
- A forwarded bill didn't show up
- Check it went to your house address, shown on the House tab. A forwarded bill lands under Bills as a draft waiting on you, usually within a couple of minutes. If the email had the bill as a link rather than an attachment, open the link and forward the PDF or a screenshot instead. A draft nobody sends is not forgotten: the next morning Mayo asks whoever forwarded it, or whoever set up the house, to send it, leave it two more days, or say it isn't a house bill.
- The split is wrong
- The split is set when a bill is confirmed: equal by default, or the amounts you give it. If a bill covers weeks before someone moved in, Mayo splits it by the days each of you lived there and says so on the confirm screen, with Split evenly instead one tap away. She goes by the day each person joined unless they set their own under You, then When you moved in. For a standing arrangement, tell Mayo once under Tell Mayo, in plain words, like rent is 40/20/20/20, and every bill after that follows it.
- A reminder went to the wrong person
- Reminders go to whoever still has an open share. If someone has paid you outside the app, open the bill and tap Mark paid next to their name; their reminders stop at once.
- Someone sent more than their share
- Nothing is lost. Mayo holds the difference for them, shows it on both people's Bills tab, and takes it off the next thing they owe the same person. If it was sent back instead, either of you can say so from that card.
- Someone paid part of it
- Their share stays open for what is left, and their reminders ask for that amount, not the whole share. What they sent is counted everywhere, including the house spreadsheet.
- Nobody got a link to pay
- Mayo can only build a link to an app you get paid in. Until whoever fronted the bill adds theirs under You, then How you pay, she holds everyone's reminders and tells them why. The moment it is added, each person gets their link.
- My invite code doesn't work
- Codes are six letters and digits and stay the same for the house. Check it against the one on the House tab or under People, and ask whoever invited you to share the link again from there.
- I was charged but the house says unsubscribed
- Open You, then House plan, and tap Restore a plan. If it still doesn't show, send us the receipt from the App Store or Google Play and we'll sort it.
- Someone left and we need a new subscriber
- The house keeps Mayo until the end of the period they paid for. After that, anyone in the house can pick the plan up from You, then House plan. The house and its history stay exactly as they are.
